DJ Fist - Kamikaze (George F Tekk Tribe remix)
When you think Colombia, you usually don’t think dance music, clubbing, or even the word fun. You think danger, cartels, and more danger. Among the midst of chaos, there is one DJ making a difference, redefining our views and helping us imagine Colombia as a beautiful land, with excellent warm weather and lots of hot rhythms. DJ Fist, with a 16-year career as a DJ, and 8 years producing and remixing is one of the most respected and popular artists from Colombia. Watch out for his productions under the aliases: Carlos Tejada, Charlie Snitch, Drums Inc – and of course DJ Fist. He tells us, "I'm very happy with the position we reached here; In many parts of the world, people know that there are a lot of good events and there is a large quantity of producers constantly bringing fresh material.”

DBN a mash-up of three artists, musicians and dj’s which are disposed to rough up the worlds electronic scene. With their musical background and experience of djing for over 15 years they started together to produce own tracks in 2004. The unique sound is only one reason why their tracks get very well received through out the industry and the crowd on the dance floor all over the world. Oliver Lang - Pressure Drop (original mix) [Fris]
Having grown up in a musical household, with his Dad playing bass in 60's pop band The Mindbenders, Oliver Lang set out dj-ing in clubs aged 14. By 16 he had released a record, and at 18 he packed up his record box and moved to Ibiza. Now celebrating a decade on the white isle, 2008 could not get much better for Oliver. As if global performances and high profile productions were not enough, Oliver is launching his own label, Dojo, this summer. Providing a platform to experiment and work with other producers he has met and respected over the years, Oliver tells us, “my focus is to evolve my own sound to put out on my own label”. Proving he is an artist who is now equally at home making music as he is playing it, evidently there is no “future” about it - Oliver is already the hero of house.

Miro - By Your Side (Souzz remix) [Blow Out]
Steen Thottrup (responsible for the projects Miro and Souzz as well) has been part of the club scene for 18 years, being one of the first artist to release a true underground single in Denmark on Kenneth Bagers label Coma Records, back in 91. Shortly after he moved to London to pursue a more international career as artist/producer for electronic music. So the future looks very good for Steen Thottrup here in 2009, with album and single releases coming up.

Tina Ted - Remember The Sound (original mix) [Gardenia]
Tina Ted was born in 1982 in Budapest - Hungary - a scorpio. Graduated in surgery, she loves reading and travelling. She is 175 cm tall with a past-life as a strip-girl, she is now a topless dj with great ambitions. From her childhood, Tina Tëd has always been living with her family in an athmosphere of music and stage : her mother being a singer and her father a well-known musician of a Hungarian band. She obtained a huge success which gave her the opportunity to get in touch with a lot of people and famous companies such as Playmate and Plesure. During this period, she has always been cultivating her passion for music and in 2005 she created a little recording studio in her own house and started mixing her first house music songs. After few months she proposed herself for her first public performance as a dj in a Budapest club, not to mention topless DJ. The public and the club's owners loved her idea very much both because of the good sound of her music and because her show war really trendy…. So it happened that she decided to dedicate herself completely to this new project.

Elfsong & Aeron Aether - Kaivalya (original mix) [Silk Digital]
Aeron Aether (Gábor Kovács) is a Hungarian composer, producer and a “researcher-experimentalist” of electronic sound. :) Besides studying electrical engineering, he dedicated his whole life to composing and listening music, which he lives and breathes. Unfortunately he studied music for only a few years, where he learned the tricks of playing cello, but what really impressed him were the synthesizers, realizing he could achieve stunning extraterrestrial sounds with this instrument. Always being interested in unusual, non worldly things, all that is unique, special, what makes you travel to other worlds and create strong, effusive emotions in any direction. Aeron experimented with almost every electronic style of music during his life, but has a strong affection towards live orchestra and symphonic music, which influenced him deeply, as movie soundtracks are most dear to him. He would gladly attempt composing soundtracks too, because the biggest challenge is to achieve composing music which match a certain emotional attitude. His goal, is to produce an artist album in the near future, to assemble a semi electronic, semi live musical formation, composing soundtracks for films and continuously bringing more and more interesting music for us to enjoy.

Way Out West - Melt (album mix) [Distinctive]
Titans: a term that’s been fading from public consciousness since the film with the gold fleece and Argonauts. The rise of UK dance music in the early 1990s saw the word in mass circulation, however: “titans” flowered like the Fibonacci sequence, a string of formidable double-acts helping generations choose their own pulse rate. Massive Attack, Leftfield, Underworld, Orbital… all rolled boulders across the plains of electronica; all gave the’90s a hypo. On the prow of some serious Pete Tong time came twelve-bore Bristolites Way Out West: the concord of Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff, two DJs crackling with invention.

NOCTURNAL Matt Schwartz Interview

Matt Schwartz or Deepest blue or DADA or The Drill.
Nocturnal gets down with Matt Schwartz to find out who he really is.

Katie Tiae - Seriously where do we start with someone who has so many alias artist names. What are the meanings behind the different names of Matt Schwartz.

Matt Schwartz - They all represent a state I was in while trying to name a record, (usually quite a silly scenario)The Drill came from watching Benni Benassi's satisfaction video straight after I finished a club record which drilled in my head because i was experimenting with reverb... it was the Drill, DADA came about when I called my office and started throwing new artist names for this record and the guy on the other line (I think it was Gil Goldberg/Back-Yard) wanted to say something but the only thing that came out was "da, dd, da" and it just dawned on me that the name was there, its kind of the first things babies say ... and also a cool extinct art movement who represented total disregard to rules and sharing creativity, i like that :)
I though that Deepest Blue was just an easy way to help people remember the song (deepest blue by deepest blue), we got stuck with it although i actually really like it, it could have been lightest green or creepy pink ...

Katie Tiae - I must say that under one of your alias's Deepest blue - Give it away is one of the most beautiful songs, who wrote the lyrics to this track?

Matt Schwartz - I wrote it with my singing partner in deepest blue,Joel, he usually write great verses (great lyrics in general) and I write bridges and hooks, so I wrote the bridge and the hook, and we wrote the chorus together and just repeated the hook (U2 inspired of course)

I like simple lyrical hooks that have a complex meaning and complex musical elements that sound simple.

Katie Tiae - If your closest friends got to write about you what would they write?
Matt Schwartz - Music is good but a beer and a break won't hurt either :)

Katie tiae - What is a perfect night for you?
Matt Schwartz - ah, that really depends, it could be a night in/out with the wife, a good night in or out with mates whether in a club or not.
Making a monumental record in the stdio, or maybe a successful gig ... I like lots of things, nothing tops making a great record !.

Katie Tiae - Can you believe the hype over some of your past tracks like 'The drill' to the complete cheeky 'lollipop' Do people realize your the same artist?
Matt Schwartz - I think that in the industry, people know who I am, for the public, It doesn't matter, they just want a good record to dance or sing along to, If a record is a hit, I will usually support it with gigs and interviews although dance record's life span is too short IMHO.
It's really satisfying to know you have a hit and people actually like the music without the need for a face ... a bit like a painting rather than a product.

Katie Tiae - Alot of your work as Deepest Blue was very emotional, were you going through a tough time? Are you the type to wear your heart on your sleave?
Matt Schwartz - I like to create emotions, if i feel like doing something dramatic, it will be like that and deepest blue was quite a highly charged project where Joel and I were pulling in different directions.

Katie Tiae - Where are you at musically in 2009 from where you were mid 1990's, How much have you learnt?
Matt Schwartz - oh wow, in some ways I've had to unlearn some bits ... my knowledge of the industry is far better and my focus has changed, I mix and produce very quick these days, its nice to have the experience .
My studio is amazing, I have the best outboard gear and I love it !
Connecting with people through music is amazing, I had lots of DJ gigs, including a 400,000 capacity gig in PARIS (Techno parade), although i still prefer to stay in the studio, (won't be saying that after a bottle of 40% - 70% high quality alcoholic beverage:).

Katie tiae - Now you were born in Israel and moved to London do you follow any israeli traditions?
Matt Schwartz - I eat Hummous, lots of it. I love beeping when I'm driving, and also shouting at other drivers:) I love Israel and it really hurts me every time the conflict flares over there.

Katie Tiae -Where can we find you in the coming months, any new alto ego's you'll be producing under?
Matt Schwartz - Ah, that's a good question ... I'm working on some Trevor Horn records and you can find me in Sarm Studios making noises and creating some fresh production and songs while planning the next Destined release, Also, 'Stereo Flo' by DADA Obernik & Harris is doing really well in Russia (top20), France and OZ, should be an exciting summer, There is a French tour on the cards.
And I might go to NY as I've signed one of my new records to Robbins, its called Heartbreak under 'Matt Schwartz Feat Nicol", also looks like I'm gonna produce an American group, can't say much more at the moment.
I think that I'm ok with the names I have for a little while :)

Katie Tiae - Well Matty thankyou for joining us on the show! Nocturnal listeners don't forget to listen to this weeks guest mix from Schwartz himself! From Katie Tiae and the nocturnal family!
