Chris was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland. In the early nineties he experimented with computers and came into making electronic music. Together with Franky Fonell he launched the Spiritgroove-Studio back in 1997. They produced together for almost a decade. They can take credits for projects like “Seashells” (Sirup Records), “Basic Dawn” (Difuse Records), “DJ Energy” (Nukleuz) and many others. The time they have spent in the Swiss single charts alone adds up to a total of over 70 weeks. “Music needs to come from the bottom of your heart, doesn’t matter what kind of music”, he says. And it seems to turn out right these days. His Remixes find full support from the biggest global players and his own stuff earns massive reaction on the floors and in the current music scene.

The melody-seeking (research) holds a key role in his productions, reflecting, as a picture, his own emotions. The last months sound a turning-point in his artistic career seeing that he starts his exclusive collaboration with Starlight: “Return From Paradise” reaches the top 10 position on Beatport chart and achieves a huge success with djs and radios. Because of all this outcomes in a very short period, he’s been elected by Beatport as one of the most promising artists of this year; he’s also been compared to producers such Glenn Morrison, Adam K etc. Dankann will be a very interesting artist to watch this year.

“It's hard to explain what kind of music we produce, we just know when it sounds right. It's a mixture of folk, guitars, samplers, with a lot of compression. There are no boundaries, there's nothing forbidden in music. If you think something is not good just because of it's genre – you're wrong. One day we just pick a 70es disco tune to sample and remix, the other day we distort the hell out of a silly folk trash from the 90es. We do the same thing with video. It's supposed to be fun, you know. But it must sound right.
