Kris Menace Artist Profile

Real Name: Kris Menace
Profile:

Christophe Hoeffel began to work as a producer and writer in the mid 1990s for different projects and started using the pseudonym "Kris Menace" in 2005. Menace is the owner of the house label "Work It Baby" where he nurtured artists such as Patrick Alavi, Lifelike, Fred Falke, Serge Santiago and others.

Menace's debut single (in collaboration with Lifelike), Discopolis, was released on Vulture Music in 2005 and was one of the most anticipated house tracks and an Ibiza anthem within the same year. Discopolis was later picked up by Defected Records and re-released with various remixes and a video directed by Seb Janiak.  Discopolis created a very unique soundpicture which many people such as Eric Prydz or Deadmau5 later took as their source of inspiration to develop a "new" house sound.

Menace later formed the label "Compuphonic" and continued to release singles under its imprint,

As a DJ he played all across the world for clubs like Fabric London, Razzmatazz Barcelona, Amnesia, Pacha, Space and many other clubs all around Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia... In July 2008 he was asked to do an Essential Mix on Radio1, which received an outstanding Feedback.

In December 2008, Kris started to promote his track "Scaler" without mentioning his artist name and which became one of the most anticipated techno tracks beginning 2009. Scaler is named to be the first track in electronic music history which created a psychoacoustics-never-ending-build-up sound effect.

Kris Menace released his Debut Album "Idiosyncrasies" in May 2009 on 3 CDs, followed by the Singles "Metropolis" & "Idiosyncrasy". The album received an outstanding rating by international press.

Since May 2009, Kris Menace has a weekly radio residency at Radio FG in Paris.

Kaskade & Seamus Haji ft. Haley - So Far Away (original mix) [Ultra Records]
Seamus began his DJing career at the tender age of 16 with a London soundsystem playing a mixture of early House, Soul and Hip Hop. With a barrel-full of drive, enthusiasm and determination he went on to secure his first residency at The Satellite and later took on regular guest spots at MOS, Garage City, Release The Pressure, Hard Times and Back To Basics. He then became a regular fixture at the likes of MOS, Code, Bed and Pacha, London. He has also enjoyed numerous residencies around the globe, including the last four years at Pacha, Ibiza where he’s gathered an army of fans, possibly something to do with his rather dashing looks as well as his DJing ability of course! Musically his strength is his diversity playing as comfortably alongside, for example, Kenny Dope as Murk. And his sets are now known for the wealth of his own productions and remixes as well as more than a smattering of trickery on the Pioneer CDJ1000’s ( for which he is an official ambassador)

DJ Rose - Twisted (Nicky Romero remix) [Spinnin Records]
Nicky hits the first snare drum at the age of 6 and started playing drums in a fanfare. After playing a year or three, he'd been asked to play in a huge group who had acts on street and big events. That was fun though, but not enough for small Nicky. At the age of 12 he got is first set of Drums, and started practising, practising and practising. Well, after 3 years playing drums everyday and night , it was enough and he changed the drums for turntables. These day's allmost every high rated DJ has a few Romero records in his bag, last summer he did a remix for "Sidney Samson & Tony Cha Cha - Get On The Floor" and a bootleg for "David Guetta - When Love Takes Over". Both tracks got alot of publicity in the world, even Ministry of Sound Australia contacted him for doing some remixes on their label! About a few hundred movie's came up at youtube from dj's who playing the Nicky Romero bootleg from When Love Takes Over! He also did a remix for one and only "Dirty South - Alamo" to be found at Beatport now! Nicky's sound growing keep an eye on him these day's, lot's of new stuff coming up! To be continued…

Matt Darey pres. Urban Astronauts ft. Kristy Thirsk - Black Flowers (Chris Domingo remix) [Nocturnal Global]
Kristy Thirsk is a Vancouver, B.C. born singer songwriter who got her start in the Juno award winning alternative pop band the Rose Chronicles. Rose Chronicles were college radio favorites in the early to mid 1990's and also crossed over to some mainstraim radio success with both their debut cd "shiver" and sophomore release "happily ever after". Many Rose Chronicles songs were featured in various movies and television shows such as Le Femme Nikita and Foxfire starring Angelina Jolie. After the recording of Rose Chronicles "Happily Ever After" cd the band unfortunately parted ways. After the break up of Rose Chronicles and while continuing her work with Delerium Kristy began cultivating her sound as a solo artist as well. Kristy and her various band line ups have toured the U.S. West Coast several times during the last 6 years and also played festivals in Toronto and New York. Her recent collaborations with SLEEPTHIEF has brought back a bit of her trademark ethereal vocals like in SUBLUNAR from the album THE DAWNSEEKER and the killer cover track SEND ME AN ANGEL. She is also featured on D:FUSE & HIRATZKA's SKYLINE LOUNGE with a groovy track called OVERKILL. Recently, Kristy has just finished her European and North American tour with Delerium and has been venturing again into solo territory with the release of her Undercover EP, featuring three original tracks and a cover of Prince's "When Doves Cry." The EP features plenty of atmospheric and ethereal soundscapes that Thirsk's fans will find familiar, but the addition of Madonna-esque dance-pop makes Undercover an effective combination that all pop music fans can enjoy.

DJ Tatana - Autumn Sun (Incognet remix) [Sirup Records]
Born Tatyana Sterba in Uherske Hradiste in the former Czechoslovakia on October 7, 1976, DJ Tatana was a very successful Switzerland-based house and trance DJ. Her work at the Street Parade in Zurich in 1998 earned her a deal to release a mix CD with Warner — entitled Tatana The Mix Vol. 1, released in November of the same year — and from there on out, many albums, mixes, and remixes followed. Scoring many hits in Switzerland, she wasn't quite able to crack other, more large-scale markets, but did earn critical acclaim from UK based DJ magazines. Her 2007 release, Variété, was a top twenty hit in Die Schweiz.

Sharam - Don't Say A Word (Christian Smith remix) [Ultra Records]
“I always believe in moving forward,” says SHARAM, known to many as one-half of the now-on-hiatus Grammy Award winning duo DEEP DISH. “Whether it’s the way I DJ or remix songs to the way I produce, there has to be a constant forward motion. This album was no different. That philosophy--to do something different without losing sight of what I’m known for--is what makes Get Wild what it is. People are always looking for something new from me and I pride myself on pushing the boundaries of dance music and taking my fans on an entertaining musical ride”  “I’ve always been a huge, huge Patsy Cline fan,” the Washington D.C.-based SHARAM says of the single. “She’s one of a kind. I had the idea to sample her for three years but I was looking to find someone who could match her. After trying different artists Cudi just nailed it, putting a really cool and interesting twist on it. He’s an unusually diverse and talented artist, because he’s very much a hip-hop fixture, but he understands dance music and is willing to try different things, plus he has an amazing voice. It’s a great contrast with Patsy Cline. His singing style and delivery was just perfect.”

Chic Magique ft. Linda Lugnet - Chic Night (original mix) [Method]
Who is Linda Lugnet? Let’s make a long story short. My interest in singing started at an early age. I remember I was about four years old when I started to sing. At the age of seven I sang in front of an audience for the first time. I sang a Christmas song on Christmas Eve at my father’s house. . I remembered grandma cried and the rest of the crowd started to applaud. Then I started to realize that I actually could affect people with my voice and that definitely increased my appetite for music. I wrote my first song when I was nine and together with two of my friends I performed the song at my after-school center. I applied to music school in my hometown Vasteras in Sweden and got in. I think I learned a lot about music and different song techniques there but it kind of killed my creativity a bit. It wasn’t really what I expected it to be and a couple of times I was thinking about quitting. I didn’t like to be forced to sing certain songs in a certain way and so on. So I never applied to study music at college. Instead I started to sing in a band. I wrote some of the lyrics and sang together with another girl that I’d known since junior high. We participated in a local competition for rock bands though our music was pop music I don’t have to tell you that we didn’t succeed. I lost my inspiration to continue with the band, mostly because I didn’t really like the music we were doing either. The years went on. I sang at funerals, weddings, in different choirs but couldn’t find the right persons to work with until much later. By mistake, I met a producer at a party when I was at university who needed a singer for a demo. We ended up doing music together and the result was a couple of songs with a modern sound. Today I’m making music that I appreciate to listen to myself and as long as I do that I will keep my creativity alive. - Love from Linda
