| DJ Rap Artist Profile |
| Real Name: | Charissa Saverio |
| Profile: | Over her 15-year career, DJ Rap has moved effortlessly between genres, staking her claim on various styles within the electronic spectrum, while simultaneously pushing the limits of rock and pop. The First Lady of Drum ʻnʼ Bass and the undisputed Queen of the Turntables, her music has infiltrated club systems and car stereos worldwide, and her numerous forays into video game and motion picture soundtracks have solidified her pedigree as one dance musicʼs most successful and prolific artists. With three studio albums, 75 mix compilations and over 2,000,000 in cumulative worldwide sales to her name, what makes you think sheʼd stop now? In February 2010, DJ Rap will release Synthesis (Ministry of Sound), a brand new studio album that weaves together a full compliment of synthetic textures and organic moods, and paints a lucid picture of her journey as a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Powerful, melodic and immaculately produced, Synthesis is a return to the hybridization of styles she brought forward on Learning Curve (Sony), her 1999 debut that had magazines like Rolling Stone and Ray Gun heralding her arrival into the mainstream. The albumʼs first single, “Give It All Away,” will be released November 2009. “This goes deeper than just a dance record,” says Rap, inspired by a wide range of artists, from Pink Floyd to Mutemath. “This album is a soundtrack to my life and what Iʼve been going through.” Though itʼs been three years in the making, Synthesis represents merely one facet of Rapʼs diversified portfolio. Her drum ʻnʼ bass and breakbeat imprint, Propa Talent, has released over 200 tracks since its inception in 1994, and has become one of the genreʼs most respected and well known labels. With its relaunch this year, Propa Talent once again returns to the spotlight, offering up new releases from artists like Nebula, Killinʼ Time, Mark Campbell, DJ CJ, Mezo and Kyshido. Meanwhile, Impropa Talent, founded in 2008, catalogues Rapʼs ongoing love affair with house music, and features the work of established producers like Mike Hiratzka, as well as up-and-comers like Tyler Revata and K-OBA. As owner, manager and A&R for both labels, Rap has been busy cultivating fresh new talent that youʼre sure to be hearing from in the near future. And thatʼs just the beginning. In 2010, Rap will again reshape the landscape with Metasyn, a ferocious new D&B project with producer and vocalist Chemical Hero. A complete sensory blitzkrieg, the Metasyn experience will transform everyoneʼs preconceptions of what live drum ʻnʼ bass can be. “This isnʼt going to be some cute chick making pretty music,” she laughs. “Youʼre in for one hell of a ride!” New details on Metasyn, as well as information on a 70-date world tour in support of Synthesis, will be revealed shortly. In the meantime, keep up on all the latest new and music at myspace.com/therealdjrap and www.djrap.com. Visitors will be able to purchase releases from both her labels, as well as DJ Rapʼs entire catalog. The fully interactive website also features videos, free downloads, and one-click access to both iTunes, Beatport and Drum and Bass Arena. Robbie Rivera ft. Danise Rivera - Back To Zero (George Acosta mix) [Juicy Music]
Robbie Rivera, born in 1973 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, had his first encounter with music when he was only 10 years old. Buying records from acts like New Order, Depeche Mode and U2, it wasn’t long before he started spinning records. “I was 13 and had two turntables and a mixer”, he says. “I did not know what beat mixing was until it happened accidentally. I taught myself.” While improving his mixing skills, he took his first steps in producing music the old fashioned way: “When I was about 15 years old, the richer kids had the instruments. One of my friends let me use his Roland drum machine all the time and he eventually gave it to me. I also had a real drum kit in my room.” Steadily he moved on: “I was sequencing beats at 16 and doing my own edits of tracks using a 2 track reel to reel machine.” He grins: “Yes, it was real tape splicing editing back then. Definitely not computer kid stuff!”

Perception Of Sound & Ange - Touching The Sky
Born in 1984 in a minor city of Nevinnomyssk, Mikhail and Evgeny had their paths crossed both in the regular school and at the doors of the music college. Same musical tastes eventually led to a collaboration that resulted in several own tracks. Change of residence to Moscow had opened an opportunity to be embraced by the whole diversity of electronic styles and to have a look-see at the legendary musicians, such as Underworld, DJ Tiesto, Faithless, Armin Van Buuren,Richie
Hawtin. This exposure itself became the driving force to their talent growth.

Hatfield & Beckers - Mind Rape (original mix) [Plastik Park]
Frank Beckers is not someone who will need introducing to you if you have at all been in the club scene for the last 10 years; his current side project D-nox & Beckers is one of Germany..s most highly acclaimed duos for progressive house and probably the hotest sound around at the moment, reaching the playlists of world renowned DJ's like John Digweed, Satoshi Tomiie, Pete Tong and many more big room floor fillers. With 2 albums released under his former artist name of Space Safari, Frank Beckers has also had a huge chain of 12 releases on labels like Baroque, Electribe, Vapour and Infusions own label Polaroid, with his major breakthrough coming on Sprout music with the international best seller Switch. His most recent collaboration projects have been with Barcelona's kings of progressive David Amo & Julio Navas and he has also has various vinyl releases as Export Audio, now using the name Hatfield & Beckers for their forthcoming releases. Frank is not only a well established producer, but he is also working as a proffesional DJ for 8 years, playing in over 20 countries, and this year alone he played so far in New York, Tokio, Melbourne, Rio de Janero, Mexico City, Helsinki, Lissbon, Sao Paulo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Budapest... and the list goes on! All this is not at all suprising, when you realise that many years before Frank Beckers started to produce his own music, he had already played in several rock and funk bands and that he'd infact started out his life as a musician in his early childhood days.

Maetrik - Paradigm House (original mix) [Treibstoff]
Eric Estornel, under the names MAETRIK, MARIEL ITO, MACEO PLEX, and simply ESTORNEL - has been contributing to his musical world around him since 1993. Always searching for the future of electronic dance, Eric has never let himself be confined by the rules of styles or genres as he makes his way through such a political and fickle industry. As a Cuban American, Eric has always been around music. His father was a salsa musician and enthusiast, and at a very early age Eric became fascinated with musical composition and began experimenting with different acoustic and electronic instruments. In 1991 at the age of 14 Eric discovered electronic music from a local radio show. Quickly Eric grew infatuated with the electronic sounds and intricate percussion and grew more and more fascinated with the Dj culture and Production side of the industry. By 1993 Eric was experimenting with mixxing music of many styles and quickly became a major vinyl junkie and techno enthusiast with a broad knowledge and love for all forms of electronic music, not just techno. By 1995 Eric was a known and respected young local DJ , when he really focused on his talents in his production. Collecting and toying with different cheap synthesizers and drum machines and emulating his idols from Aphex Twin to Maurizio. And by 96 he was already developing his unique blend of techno and electro. Fast foward to present day, Eric with all of his different sudonyms has released a very large catalog of singles and albums on labels like Mothership, Dumb Unit, Resopal, Sender, Treibstoff, Modern Love, Morris Audio, AI, Immigrant, Sub Static, Scsi Av, Onitor, etc... etc...

Muzikjunki - Time Of The Season (Lojak remix) [Spinnin Records]
1974 was a good year, the year where the Dutch soccer team lost the finals despite having a better team with players such as Cruyff, Neeskens, Rep, chrijvers…legendary names that wrote history during a tournament where the Dutch stamped their mark on soccer and how it should be played. 1974 was also the year where Dani Hageman aka Muzikjunki was born, little did he know about soccer and even today he couldn’t care less. It’s all about music for him, always has been and always will be as it looks now and like other fellow Dutchmen he’s slowly stamping his own mark on today’s house music. Muzikjunki originates from Rotterdam and knowing these things it becomes clearer that his sound seems to contain the same elements that producers from Holland all share, Energy!

DJ Tatana - Autumn Sun (Oliver Southey remix) [Sirup Records]
Born Tatyana Sterba in Uherske Hradiste in the former Czechoslovakia on October 7, 1976, DJ Tatana was a very successful Switzerland-based house and trance DJ. Her work at the Street Parade in Zurich in 1998 earned her a deal to release a mix CD with Warner — entitled Tatana The Mix Vol. 1, released in November of the same year — and from there on out, many albums, mixes, and remixes followed. Scoring many hits in Switzerland, she wasn't quite able to crack other, more large-scale markets, but did earn critical acclaim from UK based DJ magazines. Her 2007 release, Variété, was a top twenty hit in Die Schweiz.
