Kobana & Hatchet Artist Profile

Real Name: Kobana & Hatchet
Profile:

Polish music duo comprising of two indivualists cemented by music passion and creativity still trying to find new sounds and new way of music expression. Each of them brings different values and advantages to their projects making them more and more interesting…

Kobana – technical background and software guru of the duo. A very sensitive personality involved in the music production for many years. His first projects could be described as a mixture of trance and progressive trance. The evolution began after the meeting with Mario Hatchet about 3 years ago who insipred him pointing direction of new ideas. Since then, Kobana has moved to house-ish sounds focusing on progressive, deep and electro. In the same time he works hard on making his musical knowledge and abilities more comprehensive and reactive.

Mario Hatchet is an inspirational - music side of the group and the father of many projects. His long dj-ing experience helps him to find the right selection of sounds and motives which can move even a rock! Mario’s truly unique style and technique of playing music gathered him many fans and established as a professionalist on the dj scene. There is no such music style he is interested in the most, because he is trying to search for the inspiration just everywhere. However, as a dj he concentrates his efforts around deep – tribal – progressive sounds very often reaching the frequencies of electro.

These two guys thrown together into one box are creating brand new charismatic quality being purely after new sounds and music solutions. Their musical style is like the open book on the writer’s desk which keeps changing the story in order to make it more genuine and better. This book has not been written yet. It has just been started…

Matt Darey ft. Ashley Tomberlin - Lost At Sea (Luiz B. remix) [Nocturnal Global]
Never one to follow convention, Ashley Tomberlin began her love affair with music early on but initially resisted the urge. Consoling herself with art, poetry and academia instead. But after a chance encounter with UK producer Laurence Rapaccioli already known for his work under the artist name Arksun, this unknown vocalist and musician from the United states began a collaboration that truly changed the trajectory of her life forever. After completing a few initial tracks, they eventually lost touch. But almost a year later, and with a renewed sense of purpose, the musical partnership finally gelled, and Luminary was born.   You can expect great things from this up and coming artist, but most of all, expect the unexpected! It has been a strange journey, but a good one, and Ashley is definitely keeping her watchful eyes on the future and her ears open to new inspiration.

Lua Luna - Leaving For Mars (Mike Hiratzka remix) [Lost Angeles Recordings]
Mike Hiratzka is a consummate artist on a mission to bring his musical vision to the world. An incendiary DJ whose sets have rocked crowds from Hong Kong to London, Mike’s unique, funky fusion of progressive and techno is an amazing experience whether he is playing peak time sets at the world’s top venues or to the fortunate few at an intimate beach-side party. Many of the signature musical moments of those sets come courtesy of the man himself, as Mike is a gifted producer and engineer whose diverse catalogue of tracks have been hammered by just about every DJ in the world. The names read like a who’s who of dance music: Sasha. Digweed. Oakenfold. Tong. Burridge. Cattaneo. PVD. AVB. The list goes on and on…

Made By Monkeys ft. Darcy Conroy - I Think Of You (Pablo Ceballos Timeless vocal mix)

The brilliant quality of his tracks and the perfect blend of his bottom-heavy rhythms with warm and inviting soul-grabbing elements have led Pablo to become a greatly-respected master in productions and remixes. Way Out West - Surrender (Eelke Kleijn remix) [Hope Recordings]
It is difficult to describe Eelke’s sound in a few words though. “I am easily bored with music, I don’t like recycling sounds and ideas all the time”, he explains. “As with my DJ sets, I need variety in order to remain interested in what I’m doing. Producing different styles is almost like a way to express the different moods I’m in”. The signing of ‘”Walkabout” on Ork Recordings with Nick Hogendoorn is a perfect example, receiving critical acclaim from artists as diverse as Fish Go Deep, Nic Fanciulli and Anthony Pappa. Outside the Box Music, Eelke’s label launched in 2006, reflects his taste in music like nothing else. Many releases are not easy to pigeonhole into a certain style but instead cross the conventional borders between them. Eelke’s ambitions don’t stop at dance music however. His production work for Nike shows a very different side of his music, balancing on the fine line between hip hop and electronica. In 2009 Eelke wrote music for their “V is for Victory” and “Create_Space” campaigns. Meanwhile Eelke has continued his work in the studio. New tracks and remixes are due throughout 2009, and it is rumoured a new artist album is in the making as well. Rest assured, this is probably not the last we will hear from Mr. Kleijn.

Shiloh - Run Away (original mix) [Baroque Records]
8 years into their collective career as Shiloh the Moreh brothers need no introduction. In such a fast paced high turn-over industry Shiloh is a godfather to the latest incarnation of the progressive dance music scene without a doubt. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a progressive house DJ or artist that doesn't cite Shiloh as an inspiration and influence.

Lustral - Many Years From Now (D-Nox & Beckers remix) [Baroque]
Lustral are one of electronic music's most critically acclaimed songwriting/production teams, being the driving force behind major acts such as Lustral, Chakra, The Space Brothers, Oxygen, The Realm, Force Majeure and Ascension. Collaborating with many of their favourite singers and musicians from their previous projects, Simmonds & Jones have created “Interpretations” – an album packed with beautiful songs that Ricky and Steve regard as the best work they have ever recorded.

Fluxx & Lola - Romance (Joy Kitikonti Venice remix)
FLUXX & Lola ‘Romance’ (diecizeromusic) ‘Romance’ is the first release of the new diecizeromusic label and it represents the debut single for the project Fluxx & Lola. When you listen to it, even if for the first time, you are fashinated by its fantastic and magic atmospheare, and that’s the result of the incredible contamination between the real violin’notes and the techno-trance sounds, that gives the track a unique flavour,

The XX & Alan Fitzpatrick & Reset Robot - Silicone Shelter (King Unique bootie)
King Unique is Matt Thomas, an all round studio junkie and dj with a taste for tripped-out cosmic techno and rough-edged underground house; in a career spanning nearly a decade KU’s distinctive sound has won an enviable global following. A ceaseless schedule of dj sets and festival gigs backed up by relentless studio sessions resulting in scores of records, remixes and radio broadcasts has made the KU sound an instantly recognizable part of the music-life of millions of the world’s clubbers - and a fixture in the vinyl crates, cd wallets and laptops of the world’s most influential djs. Jaytech - Gray Horizon (original mix)
Jaytech, aka James Cayzer, has carved himself an enviable reputation as a
supremely credible producer, DJ, and live talent. Uplifting, but never obvious, his music is well-thought out melodic house that’s equally at home in a Sasha or Desyn Masiello set as in a headline slot from Above & Beyond (Jaytech is also their opening DJ of choice). Hailing from Canberra, Australia, Jaytech had his first production signed at the age of 16 (having started producing at 14); ‘Music 101’ was a precocious start and achieved worldwide recognition. Though his exams were deemed the main priority by his parents, he spent his daytime hours on both his studies and his classical training (as a pianist), while at night, holed up in his bedroom, he perfected his programming skills.

Ofrin - How Come (Phonique & Tigerskin dub mix) [Manual Music]
Young and beautiful Israeli singer Ofri Brin and her band Ofrin are about to find their way into yourears…their distinctive, loungy avantgarde pop is here to stay. Watching Israeli singer Ofri on stage for the first time leaves you with that rare sensation of feeling that you have just witnessed something very special, precious and unique. No wonder, as Ofrin comes with a sultry voice of velvet and music that is hard to categorize…some kind of avantgarde pop that easily combines nostalgia and modernism and simply makes everybody in the audience listen up and swoon.
